Privacy Policy
Mirasol Guesthouse ("we", "the House") respects the privacy of all guests and visitors of this website. This policy explains what data we may process, for what purposes, which cookies we use and what your rights are under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
1. Data Controller
The entity responsible for data processing is Mirasol Guesthouse, based at Rua Bela São Tiago 67, Zona Histórica de Santa Maria, 9060-400 Funchal, Madeira, Portugal. Contact: info@mirasolhouse.com or +351 964 511 290.
2. What Data We Process and How
This website is purely informational: it does not sell, charge or process any transaction directly — it has no user accounts, booking areas or payments of its own, and we do not collect or store personal data through forms.
All booking buttons and tools redirect to external services of our partners. The booking, payment and associated data are processed by those partners, in accordance with their respective policies (see section 5).
Therefore, the only data we may process is:
Direct contacts: when you contact us by phone, WhatsApp or email to request information, we only process the data you send us (for example, your name, contact details and message).
Browsing logs: when you visit the website, the hosting service records technical data (such as IP address, browser type and pages visited) in temporary logs, which do not allow us to identify users and are not used to create profiles.
3. Legal Basis and Purpose of Processing
We process data on the following grounds set out in the GDPR:
Legitimate interest: improving and protecting the website, remembering your chosen language and avoiding repeating the car rental pop-up for visitors who have already closed it.
Legal and tax obligations: issuing invoices when applicable.
This website does not enter into contracts itself: bookings are made directly with our partners or by direct contact (phone/email), outside this website.
4. Cookies
We only use one first-party cookie, functional and session-only (it expires when you close your browser):
i18n_redirect — remembers the language you chose (Portuguese or English), so you do not have to select it again on every page.
We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. When you interact with embedded third-party content (Google map, partner booking tool), those providers may place their own cookies, subject to their respective policies (see section 5).
5. Third-Party Services and Tools
When you click a booking button or use an embedded tool, you are redirected to the relevant partner’s platform, outside this website:
Accommodation booking platforms: the "Book" buttons on the rooms redirect to external platforms (e.g. HeyTravel / Booking), which process the booking under their own policies and terms.
Google Maps: location map on the Contacts page. Privacy policy available at policies.google.com/privacy.
Car rental booking tool of our partner (Madeira Hot Wheels / HQ Rentals), available on the Car Rental page. The booking, payments and associated data are processed by the partner in accordance with the policy and terms presented within the tool itself.
Netlify: website hosting, which keeps temporary access logs for security and diagnostics. Policy available at netlify.com/privacy.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent or share personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. As this website does not process bookings or payments, we do not receive or process the data entered on our partners’ platforms. Data may only be shared: (a) with technical processors (such as hosting) strictly to the extent necessary; or (b) when required by law or by competent authorities.
7. Retention and Security
We only keep data for as long as necessary for the purpose of the processing, including periods required by law (for example, invoicing). Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. We apply appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect the data against unauthorised access.
8. Your Rights
Under the GDPR, you have the right to:
Access the personal data we process about you and obtain a copy;
Request the rectification of inaccurate or incomplete data;
Request the erasure of your data ("right to be forgotten");
Request the restriction of processing in certain circumstances;
Receive the data you provided in a structured format (data portability);
Object to processing based on legitimate interest.
You may exercise these rights by contacting us at info@mirasolhouse.com, clearly stating the right you wish to exercise. Without prejudice to any other remedy, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Portuguese supervisory authority, the Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (CNPD), at cnpd.pt.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy whenever necessary — for example, when the website starts collecting new data. The date of the last update is shown at the top of this page.
10. Contact
For any question regarding this policy or the processing of your data, please contact us: info@mirasolhouse.com or +351 964 511 290.
